Water's Edge Partner and Executive Chef, Jimmy Purcell has been enamored with the sea since his youth growing up here in Mt. Pleasant, SC. In fact, it was the fish, shrimp, and crab of the Lowcountry waterways that first lead him to the kitchen, where today he takes great pleasure in creating, preparing and serving his personal brand of Lowcountry cuisine.
Jimmy spent his teenage years fishing, surfing, dishwashing, slinging fish, and, eventually, earning a spot on the line at the Bridge Tender Restaurant in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. It was there that he gained his love for the restaurant business before ultimately returning to the Lowcountry to complete his education and training at some of Charleston’s finest restaurants.
Yet even after 24 years of varied experience in the industry and degrees in Food Service Management and Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales, Jimmy still considers the Lowcountry cuisine that comes from local waters, farms, and kitchens to be among the best in the world.
When he is not in the restaurant or on the dock, helping a patron tie up, you can still find Jimmy fishing, surfing, kiteboarding, or simply taking his wife and son for a sunset cruise around the harbor.
